About Me

How would you describe your current role to a HR outsider?

Currently, I am managing the following units under HR: Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, and Talent Development. Me and my team work closely with the Leaders in building a high-performing organization.

What is a common misconception about the work you do?

Generally, the common misconception about HR is that we are all about hiring and firing; but we are more than that, we can be valuable partners of the organization in ensuring that the employees perform their best.

How did you get started in your HR career?

HR was my preferred career, though I had to admit that there was a point in time where I wanted to shift from an HR Practitioner to a Clinical Psychologist. Becoming an HR Leader is my fate because no matter how much I try to re-direct myself, I keep on going back to the role.

Describe the most impactful HR project you've personally worked on.

There's a lot but all of my Organizational Development initiatives, I would have to say, would always be my favorite. Regardless of what industry I am in, being one of the drivers of any org. transformation provides me with a sense of fulfillment.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA startups?

Emerging technologies like AI in the workplace poses a risk in the privacy of employees. This new trend will work, if and only if, employees are properly protected.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change that you hope to see more of at SEA startups?

An HR/ Culture playbook for Start-ups will be helpful for aspiring and emerging organizations.

What is your favourite HR resource that you would recommend to this community?

It's AIHR, Academy to Innovate HR is a good resource, easy to read and understand because their key visuals are clear and concise.

Lastly, where are you based, and where would you take friends visiting your city for the first time?

I'm currently based in Manila. We have a lot of good spots in Ph where I could take my friends to. It actually depends on their preference- if they are into beaches, we could go to Batangas beaches in Luzon or any beach in Visayas like Boracay. If they are interested with Ph history then I could bring them to historical places like Intramuros. but if they just want to party and stroll around the Metro, then BGC is the place.
