About Me

How would you describe your current role to a HR outsider?

I specialize in developing and implementing systems and frameworks that focus on three key areas: enhancing individual growth, fostering teamwork, and facilitating meaningful work.

What is a common misconception about the work you do?

Many people think HR is primarily about administrative tasks. In reality, my role involves strategic planning and execution to enrich the organizational culture and drive business outcomes.

How did you get started in your HR career?

My journey began immediately following my experience at AIESEC, where I discovered a genuine passion for people management. Over time, I have expanded my understanding to include business alignment with human-centric practices. My career has been a series of enriching roles, starting as an HR Generalist, transitioning into recruitment, and circling back to a generalist role enriched by my diverse experience.

Describe the most impactful HR project you've personally worked on.

I led a comprehensive project to establish Career Progression Maps across departments in four countries. We collaborated closely with the Leadership team to revamp the promotion and progression systems. This new framework not only standardizes the criteria for advancement but also aligns individual growth with organizational goals.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA startups?

While Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the role of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) are making strides in Western markets, their applicability in Southeast Asia is still uncertain. The current landscape tends to focus more on administrative aspects, as opposed to the consultative roles seen in other regions.

What is your favourite HR resource that you would recommend to this community?

I've found invaluable insights from a range of resources including Human Resources Online, LinkedIn Talent Blog, and various trend reports by Mclean & Company and PwC, among others.

Lastly, where are you based, and where would you take friends visiting your city for the first time?

I am located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For first-time visitors, I would highly recommend the TTDI trail hike as a way to experience the natural beauty our city has to offer.
