NewCampus helps you fit learning into your life through daily discussion-led classes, hosted by virtual instructors, delivered in inspiring offline classrooms. Our team is global and remote first. We’re part nerdy, part creative but we all share a passion for changing the way people learn and grow. Keep life in beta.

Pin Han Lim is an enthusiastic new entrant to the NewCampus team. What we love about her is the wonderful and unusual mix of organizational ability and love for meaningful connections. So, obviously, we entrusted her to build exciting new partnerships for NewCampus. Pin’s abilities also extend to photographycreative storytelling and painting. One more resident all-rounder in our midst, find out more about Pin below!

Tell us a little about yourself

I am curious about people and what they are curious about. You can find me reading or people-watching at the coffee shop, staring at my many lists on Trello, or scanning film negatives.

What do you do at NewCampus?

I support the enterprise team with partnership experience and operation

How does your typical day at work look like?

I’d recently joined the team so I’m still learning the ropes. I’m regularly hopping on one-on-one calls to catch up with teammates to understand what they do, to help me do my work better. It’s always about iterating and finding better ways to do things and sharing that with each other.

My days differ between work-from-home days and those where I attend five back-to-back meetings. When I’m working on my own, I’m trying to find best practices for onboarding and marketing processes; meeting-filled days see us travelling to the various enterprises for hands-on workshops to learn about their needs and how we can value-add.

What is your current focus at work?

Creating and operationalising a better onboarding experience for our enterprise partners, thinking about marketing strategies and meaningful data. My work operates on a B2B2C model — which is tricky, challenging, but so worth the fight!

Three words that describe you?

Observant, interested, genuine.

Why did you join NewCampus? What excites you about what you do?

Everything is human-first. At NewCampus, there’s an emphasis on the human touch, stories, and insights. Also, it really heartens me when I meet our colearners and hear about why they stick around — anecdotes of them becoming a more confident speaker, open thinker, or us seeing them through a career-related milestone in their lives like a promotion or switching industries.

What we are striving for — spurring habit change and supporting people in their lifelong learning journey — is ambitious, and I love a good challenge.

How do you incorporate lifelong learning into your schedule?

Always talking to people and keeping an open mind, and staying curious about new projects and organisations that pop up. I find learning opportunities everyday by reading, listening, and observing.

What/who inspires you?

Creative, good-hearted, resilient folks; humanised moments (of honesty, vulnerability, empathy); thoughtful work.

Share a book/podcast/article (with relevant data and links) that inspired you and tell us why it impacted you

Offscreen Magazine: a magazine about the human side of technology. It sheds light on ethical issues that arise through manifold aspects of technology, from automation to algorithms — how these shape perceptions and influence behaviour — and thus motivates me to think about how I can cultivate more socially responsible habits, to build my life on the notion of “tech for good”.

What do you do outside of work for fun?

Take photographs, make zines, read, people-watch, and ideate for other creative projects. I occasionally paint, and am trying to watch more films!

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to anyone?

Learn to rest, not quit.
